Student leadership

The school has a strong belief in the importance of fostering strong personal and community values through student leadership.

The school also has a strong ethos encouraging ‘democratic leadership’ through an active, representative Student Council comprised of two students from each year level as well Junior Ambassadors, House Captains and the four School Captains .

A senior leadership program emphasises personal leadership which is fostered through school activities whereby all students have the opportunity to participate, for example Year 11 Challenge Camp.

Towards the end of Year 11, students participate in a rigorous election process to determine the School Captains for the coming year. The announcement of the successful candidates is a much anticipated aspect of the school Awards Evening in late October.

Also completed towards the end of Year 11 is selection of the Senior Leaders for students’ Year 12 completed by the Principal, senior staff member, P&C representative and the current School Captain.

Senior Leaders choose to be involved in a range of school student committees, such as Magazine, Social, Senior Dinner and the like.

Values are further developed through participation by school leaders in a variety of community activities such as in Anzac Day and the like.
