Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

Isis District State High School acknowledges the significance of information and communication technologies (ICTs) to the global community and identifies the need for students to be familiar with the range of ICT capabilities in order to enhance learning within curriculum and function within society as an active and productive citizen. We envisage a school community which effectively engages students in a learning process which is efficiently integrated with the use of ICTs.

To enable truly integrated ICTs, from 2018 the BYO Laptop Program is expanded to include all Year levels. Whilst we do acknowledge a laptop will not be used in every lesson every day, the increasing use of online resources and interactive activities via the internet and or school network will see an increased use of laptops across the different departments of the school.

Details of the BYO Laptop Program included in the following documents:

Introductory letter (PDF, 3259kb)

BYO Laptop Program Policy and Participant Request form (PDF, 321kb)

Whilst the school maintains a range of ICT resources to support student learning, there is clear advantage for students to be utilising their own machine which they are familiar with and able to move seamlessly from home to school and back again.

All students (and their parents) should be familiar with the student computer use policy and agree to its conditions. This policy has been devised to ensure both the safety of our students as they use ICT resources and the security and proper functioning of the school network and equipment. It is necessary to agree to this policy before using the school ICT resources.

Students (and their parents) involved in the student laptop program should be familiar with the Student Laptop Charter and Student Laptop Agreement.
